Matthews Community Farmers' Market
About The Market
Our story
By 1991 Matthews had undergone enormous change and was no longer a small centralized farming community. Increasing population and commercial development during the previous decade had displaced much of the local agricultural community. Our founders wanted to create a space which would not only support local farms as a viable part of the community, but would also bring back a sense of community to Matthews. The farmers market has helped the downtown area to, once again, be the functioning heart of Matthews by providing for the basic human need for sustenance.

Describe your image
We are the largest, most diverse producer-only farmers' market in the greater Charlotte area. All market products, except fish, are grown, raised or made within 60 miles of Matthews. Fish is caught on the NC coast and brought to market by the fisherman. Buying directly from the local producer allows you to know the source of your food and build a relationship with the person or farm family who grows it. You'll find freshly harvested produce, naturally-raised meats, local honey, plants, artisan foods and hand-crafted items. We are also proud to be a lively community gathering place in Downtown Matthews to shop, nibble, relax and meet your neighbors. Come enjoy all we have to offer on Saturday mornings, including live music, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, fun contests and more!
Your Money Well Spent
Most of our regular customers are savvy consumers and do not come to MCFM looking for bargains. They know that good food is not cheap. Here’s what you get for your money:
1. Food that's grown by hand.
2. High quality, excellent value.
3. More varieties of produce grown for their taste, not how well they ship.
4. Supporting local farms, farm families and, in turn, your local economy.
